Proudly representing Senate District 27
Senator Andrew Mathews has served in the Minnesota State Senate since his election in 2017. He proudly represents Senate District 27, which includes communities in Benton, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, and Wright counties.
Senator Mathews is the Republican lead of the Energy, Utilities, Environment and Climate Committee. He also serves on the Human Services; Elections; and Ethics committees.
Senator Mathews was raised and resides in Princeton with his wife, Elsa, and two sons. Early in life, he did everything from working retail and farm work to volunteering, ministry leadership, and missions work.
Senator Mathews graduated from Bible School and obtained a pastor’s license, serving as a small local church pastor. He also graduated from Oak Brook College of Law and worked as a federal veterans case worker.
Long before he could even vote, Senator Mathews was very involved in public service, volunteering in local politics, and serving as a page in the Minnesota State Legislature.
