State Senator Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake) has been appointed to serve on a new Senate committee that will explore new ideas to improve health care in Minnesota. The new committee will be called the Senate Select Committee on Health Care Consumer Access and Affordability.

“As both a lifelong worker and an entrepreneur responsible for health care coverage for hundreds of employees, I have seen firsthand the impact that unaffordable health care coverage can have on families,” said Sen. Draheim. “I am proud to be appointed to a committee with the sole purpose of making health care better and more affordable – Minnesota families sure need it.”

The Senate Select Committee on Health Care Consumer Access and Affordability, which met for the first time on July 12, will continue meeting semi-monthly throughout the interim. The committee doesn’t have authority to consider and adopt legislation, and will present ideas to the Health and Human Services budget committee next session.
