Senator Lang to host town hall meeting on tax reform

Senator Andrew Lang (R-Olivia) will host a town hall meeting in Willmar on potential changes to Minnesota tax law following the recent federal tax reform. The town hall, which will also include Senator Roger Chamberlain (R-Lino Lakes), chairman of the Senate Taxes Committee, will be held on Tuesday, February 13 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building (2200 23rd Street NE, #1020, Willmar, MN).

Federal tax reform is expected to deliver $2,000 in tax relief to the typical middle-income family of four, but Minnesota laws must change accordingly to avoid unnecessarily complex state tax returns or state tax increases. The meeting is part of a series of town hall meetings taking place across Minnesota.

“Federal tax reform has created an opportunity to improve the tax code in Minnesota,” said Senator Lang. “People will see reduced taxes, higher wages, more jobs, and greater opportunity if we make the necessary changes to Minnesota’s tax code. This is an opportunity for the public to hear from us directly and to let us know what you think should be done.”
