On June 13, a child care center in Minneapolis was raided over allegations of fraud and misconduct related to improper billing. The investigation, which was conducted by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services, was part of an ongoing probe into the rampant child care funding fraud scandal.
State Senator Michelle Benson (R-Ham Lake) released the following statement about the raid.
“I am glad to see DHS focusing its resources on reducing fraud and protecting tax payers. This is a far better use of time and energy than bullying private child care providers with citations for minuscule violations like having rabbit poop on their lawns or crayon marks on a table. We’re starting to learn just how massive the daycare fraud scheme truly is; I look forward to improved program integrity and proper punishment for the perpetrators.”
