The Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) honored Sen. Julie Rosen with its 2018 Public Achievement Award, which recognizes a public official or a private citizen who has performed extraordinary service in health care policy. The award was presented at MHA’s 2019 Winter Trustee Conference.
During her 16 years of service in the Minnesota Senate, Rosen has authored hundreds of bills addressing health care issues. She spearheaded Minnesota’s telemedicine legislation, enhancing access by requiring parity for services and payment regardless of whether health care services are provided on site or via telemedicine.
With Rosen’s leadership, Minnesota has made significant new investments in both state-operated mental health services and mental health grant programs. Rosen has also directed ongoing legislative work to combat substance abuse and the opioid epidemic, including efforts to require pharmaceutical manufacturers to fund recovery strategies.
“Sen. Rosen has been a strong partner and highly effective leader working to enhance health care for all Minnesotans,” said MHA President and CEO Lawrence Massa. “We are grateful for her collaborative efforts on behalf of hospitals, care teams and patients and for her contributions to the state of Minnesota.”
Each year, MHA celebrates extraordinary achievement in categories ranging from advocacy on behalf of hospitals and volunteerism to innovation and improvement in patient care and patient safety. For a complete list of MHA award winners, visit www.mnhospitals.org/about/mha-awards.
