Joint legislative committees focus on opioid crisis, higher education budget, & agriculture budget
Senator Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake) has been named to three bipartisan legislative conference committees during the 2019 session. Conference committees are joint House-Senate committees tasked with working out differences in legislation passed by each respective body of the legislature. Senator Draheim is a member of the following conference committees: HF 400 which is legislation tackling the opioid epidemic, SF 2226 which is the legislature’s comprehensive agriculture, rural development, and housing budget bill – including rural broadband funding, and SF 2415 which is the comprehensive higher education budget bill.
“As we work with the governor and House of Representatives to balance our state budget, I am pleased to be working with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to ensure we meet the needs of Minnesotans,” said Senator Draheim, who serves as chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee. “From addressing the opioid epidemic to protect the safety and health of Minnesotans, to preparing the next generation of our workforce through investments in higher education, to expanding rural broadband and market opportunities for our farmers, my fellow Senators and I look to fund the priorities of Minnesotans without raising taxes on hard working families.”
