State Senator Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) this week attended an exclusive meeting aimed at preparing states to adapt to the world’s changing workforce needs. Sen. Miller received the invitation due to the work he has done in Minnesota supporting workforce development legislation, as well as his experience and expertise as a small businessman, former chairman of the Senate Jobs Committee, and current president of the Senate.
The meeting was the third in a series of roundtables hosted by “Future Workforce Now,” which is an ongoing project of the National Governors Association, the Fab Foundation, and FHI 360. The roundtables are built around discussions featuring experts and policymakers from around the nation and the world.
“Like most states, Minnesota’s workforce is rapidly changing,” said Sen. Miller. “We can turn those changes into opportunities, but we can’t afford to sit back and wait. It was a privilege to attend a meeting of so many leading experts collaborating on ideas to make sure governments — and workers – are best positioned to succeed in a time of transformation.”
The meeting took place on June 26 and 27 in Washington, D.C. It featured a review of insights from the first two retreats, and a series of roundtable discussions on preparing for future workforce needs, worker training and education, and policy options for states.
