Senator Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) issued the following statement in response to proposed premium rate changes for plans sold on the individual insurance market for 2020. The rate changes released by the Commerce Department range from a decrease of 1.4% to an increase of 4.8%.
“Today’s modest rate changes demonstrate that the market is stabilizing from the double digit increases that shocked many Minnesotans just a few years ago,” said Dahms. “We can all see that Minnesota’s leading reinsurance program continues to play a major role in keeping health insurance costs down. Clearly, reinsurance was the right thing to do and Republicans in the Senate will continue our work to decrease the cost of healthcare for every Minnesotan.”
