A note from Senator Bruce Anderson

This year, even with a divided government, we put together a balanced budget. Despite the challenge, we upheld your values, lowered taxes, and passed great reform for Minnesota. As we continue our work over the interim, I look forward to what we will accomplish next session.

As always, I appreciate hearing from each of you. Please contact me any time. The ideas and concerns you share enable me to represent our district well at the capitol. It is an honor to serve our communities.

Serving our veterans

As chair of the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Finance and Policy Committee, I am committed to honoring our veterans and their families. This year, we passed bills to improve support and opportunities for veterans, and funded initiatives to honor their service and sacrifice. Here are a few of the bills I authored this session:

  • We fully funded the state’s Veterans and Military Affairs budget
  • We passed funding for an expansion of the Veterans Service Center at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. It serves as a space for servicemembers, veterans, and their families to step away from the busyness of the airport and enjoy a few extra amenities while they wait for their flight.
  • Designated June 30 as American Allies Day to honor those who fought on behalf of and alongside our armed forces
  • A Medal of Honor Commemorative Memorial will be located on the State Capitol Mall to recognize all who have displayed tremendous courage defending our country
