I was notified by MnDOT that work will soon begin on Highway 52 between Fountain and Preston in Fillmore County, which requires closure of the road. If this is an area you travel regularly, please see the information below to plan your trips accordingly.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE WORK BEING DONE?
- Highway 52 in Fillmore County will be detoured while MnDOT conducts concrete repairs. The repair work requires the removal of some concrete panels in the road where the joints have failed or panels are in need of replacement.
- Repairs will take place along the 7-mile stretch between Fountain and Preston.
- Work will begin Sept. 11 and continue until Sept. 26, weather permitting.
WHAT IS THE DETOUR ROUTE?
- From the north, at Fountain: Take Fillmore Co. Rd 8 east to Lanesboro. From Lanesboro, take Highway 16 south back to Highway 52.
- From the south, just before Preston: take Highway 16 north to Lanesboro. From Lanesboro, take Fillmore Co. Rd 8 west back to Highway 52.
- From the west: Hwy 16 motorists approaching Hwy 52 from the west will not be able to join Hwy 52 at Preston. They’ll need to detour north on Hwy 80 through Wykoff.
- Local traffic will remain for people and businesses that reside on Highway 52. Vehicles going to POET Biorefining in Preston may use Hwy 16 for accessing the plant.
