The NCAA announced today that their board of governors has unanimously voted to allow student-athletes to profit from their names and likenesses. Senator Roger Chamberlain (R-Lino Lakes), who drafted a bill granting this right to Minnesota student athletes, released the following statement:
“Fantastic news. I am glad the NCAA decided to do the right thing. We still have quite a bit of work to do, and I still intend to introduce my bill next session so all our bases will be covered, but I am thrilled for the student-athletes who will soon be able to benefit financially from their hard work.”
