Minnesota’s 2021 Legislative Session officially began January 5 with Senator David Osmek (R-Mound) and 66 other State Senators swearing-into office during a ceremony at the State Capitol.
“I look forward to getting back to work by passing a new, two-year state budget and fighting to end Governor Walz’s destructive peacetime emergency,” said Sen. Osmek. “It’s time that our government trust Minnesota schools and businesses to reopen safely. Rather than continue to hinder them with blanketed lockdowns, this administration should work with the legislature to empower folks delivering the tools and resources that safely get us back some semblance of regular life. With a budget deficit looming, we must approach the two year budget with caution. There is no reason to raise taxes on the hard-working Minnesotans who are already suffering through the Governor’s devastating shutdowns. Likewise, our government must be kept in check, and like the Minnesota public has been forced to, we must look for ways to eliminate wasteful spending and streamline our budget.”
During the first few weeks of the session, most of Sen. Osmek’s work will take place in Senate Committees. During the 2021-2022 session, Senator Osmek has been appointed to serve on the following committees:
- Chair Metropolitan Governance Committee
- State Government Finance and Policy and Elections
- Technology and Reform Policy Committee
- Transportation Finance and Policy Committee
