Senator Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake) released the following statement in response to Governor Tim Walz loosening of his restrictions on businesses implemented on November 21:
“Minnesota families and businesses are hurting. The people of this state need help, relief, and the ability to return to school and work. While Governor Walz’s eased restrictions move us in the right direction, they certainly don’t go far enough. The Governor continues to pick and choose which businesses can open and which can’t, providing limited data and explanation. Furthermore, he believes that a one size fits all policy works just as well in the Twin Cities as it does communities across Minnesota. With a new session upon us, it is time that Governor Walz end his emergency powers and work with the legislature to develop bipartisan solutions that open our state back up. Together, we can get Minnesota back on track and people back to their daily lives in a safe and responsible manner.”
