Senator David Osmek (R-Mound) released the following statement in response to Governor Tim Walz loosening of his restrictions on businesses implemented on November 21:
“Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction, and I am happy to see Governor Walz acknowledge that the worst of COVID is behind us. Many across Minnesota are grateful for the opportunity to open their businesses back up, and for some, it will be the difference between surviving and closing for good.”
“Unfortunately, for many others, this adjustment came far too late. In fact, the Data shows COVID cases in Minnesota were declining for 11 days before Walz shut these businesses down, and neighboring states with far fewer rules have managed the pandemic just as well. With the legislative session just beginning, it is time for the Governor to finally end his emergency powers and work with legislators to deliver vetted, data-driven solutions that will safely get Minnesotans back to their daily routines.”
