Senator Mary Kiffmeyer (R-Big Lake) today released the following statement in response to Washington, D.C. protests breaking into the United States Capitol:
“A peaceful transition of power is paramount to a democratic republic rule of law. Protesting peacefully is a right to all. But, once it turns to threats, acts of violence, destruction of property, interfering with others using their rights and risking the lives of others, that is not included in the Constitution. It does not matter whether you identify as left or right, democrat or republican, this year or last year, those who commit these horrific acts need to be held responsible.“
