Friends and neighbors,
As we continue to make strides in navigating the everchanging world of COVID, I know many of us have our children on our minds and how this will shape their lives moving forward.
I was pleased when the Governor loosened restrictions on youth sports, but now we can see that while the exercise and freedom to play with their peers is a slight return of normalcy, the requirement to wear masks is dangerous. By trying to stave off a virus, the government is creating new health problems for our young children.
The World Health Organization has stated that wearing a mask while engaging in physical activity poses a potential health risk and may cause more harm than the intended good. Our children are seeking any semblance of normalcy they can find in these times, and sports is a way to let out the pent-up energy with a group of friends – it gives them a chance to be a kid. If we are to be listening to everything the CDC and WHO are saying, why are we ignoring the fact that they are saying masks in youth sports cause more harm than good?
I am a strong believer that each life holds immeasurable value at any and every age whether unborn or in the senior years. This week marks the anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, legalizing abortion nationwide. Each year, pro-life Minnesotans mark this date with the MCCL March for Life at the Capitol to commemorate the 60 million+ lives lost to abortion and the women and men who have been hurt as a result. While we are so focused on our lives and returning to normal, it is important to remember that we can and must protect unborn children and their mothers.
These are trying times for all and I have been reminded time and time again how blessed I am to represent the people of District 30. I am grateful for each of my constituents and look forward to connecting with you. Please reach out to me through email, phone, or I would be happy to meet in district or at the Capitol. Your voice is important to me and it is my mission for you to be heard.
Sincerely,
Mary
