Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday announced his 2022-2023 budget proposal, which calls for $52.4 billion in spending and more than $1.6 billion in new taxes. It represents a spending increase of $4.4 billion from the previous budget.
Senator Mike Goggin (R-Red Wing) issued the following statement in response.
“My priorities are the same as Minnesotans’ priorities: getting Minnesotans back working, opening our businesses, getting our kids back into the classrooms, and closing the achievement gap. While I have concerns about the size of Gov. Walz’s budget, I look forward to working with the governor, as well as Democrats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, to reach a budget that works for all Minnesotans.”
Senate Republicans previously announced their priorities for the 2021 session as well.
