On Monday, Minnesota House Democrats unveiled a plan to legalize recreational marijuana in Minnesota.
Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) issued the following statement:
“House Democrats continue to move on misguided priorities in Minnesota. Rather than focus on opening the state up, getting our kids back in school, and rebooting our economy Majority Leader Winkler is once again pushing forward to legalize marijuana.
People need to realize this isn’t just a revenue stream waiting to be tapped. There are significant costs as well. In Oregon and Washington, the data has shown an increase in disease, more mental health issues, more addiction, higher health care costs, increased car crashes, and very harmful impacts on teens and kids who get their hands on it.
As a Governor who was once a schoolteacher, you’d think Walz and Democrats colleagues would realize the consequences of legalized pot.”
