Senator Nelson applauds tax relief agreement that includes full Paycheck Protection Program and pandemic unemployment relief

State legislative leaders and Gov. Tim Walz today announced a framework for a bipartisan budget agreement that doesn’t raise taxes. The agreement includes a significant tax relief proposal that will include full tax relief for forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans and pandemic unemployment benefits.

Senate Tax Chair Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) issued the following statement:

“This is fantastic news. The Senate has made relief for emergency Covid-19 aid like PPP loans and pandemic unemployment a top priority all year. In fact, we led the way by passing a relief bill back on March 11. I am thrilled we were able to deliver this important relief, and I look forward to working with House Tax Chair Paul Marquart on finishing a complete agreement with more relief for families with young children, workers, and small businesses.”

Carla Nelson is the chair of the Senate Taxes Committee. She is serving her fourth term and represents Olmsted County.
