Minnesota State Senator Roger Chamberlain (R-Lino Lakes) today issued the following statement regarding Gov. Walz signing the Veterans Restorative Justice Act, which Sen. Chamberlain authored during the 2021 session.

“Virtually all of us know at least one veteran who has returned from service carrying the trauma of battle — trauma that can affect them for years or lead to countless other challenges. It is our duty to help these veterans receive treatment rather than incarceration when they commit low-level crimes due to struggles they are facing due to their service. It’s the right thing to do, and I’m glad Gov. Walz signed this important bill into law.”
