Senator Rarick Responds to Record-Setting Surplus

On Tuesday, Minnesota Management and Budget released the November budget forecast showing a record-setting $7.7 billion projected surplus for the 2022-2023 biennium. Senator Jason Rarick (R-Pine City) issued the following statement regarding the forecast report.

“While Governor Walz is boasting about how flush the state is with cash, we know this isn’t the reality for residents across the state. Families continue to struggle with rising daily expenses, and inflation is at a thirty-year high. With costs rising everywhere, we must be cautious to consider any increase in government spending. Instead, this record-setting surplus should be used to help the people of Minnesota, make things more affordable, and support our business and economy as they continue to struggle to recover from the impacts of COVID.”
