ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Secretary of the Senate Cal Ludeman notified the Senate the independent investigation into the Senate harassment policy is concluded. The investigation was started after a former Senate DFL employee made public her experience at the Senate. Ludeman indicated the report found some involved did not follow policy, and there was a lack of clarity in the policy itself.
Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller (R- Winona), along with Senate Republican Leadership members Roger Chamberlain (R- Lino Lakes), Zach Duckworth (R- Lakeville), Karin Housley (R- Stillwater), John Jasinski (R- Faribault), Mark Johnson (R- East Grand Forks), and Bill Weber (R- Luverne) released the following statement regarding the report:
“We appreciate the work of the independent investigation to identify whether a report of sexual harassment was properly handled. It’s clear there were shortcomings, including by several individuals, and we are committed to working with the Senate leadership to examine possible improvements to our harassment policy. Ultimately, every one of us is personally responsible for a safe and respectful workplace, regardless of the policy requirements. Senate Republicans strive to maintain a professional work environment for members, staff, and visitors to the Senate at all times.”
