Minnesota State Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) today reminded residents of Olmsted County that the application window for emergency drought relief will close on July 6. The emergency drought relief package was approved by the Minnesota legislature this year to assist farm operators with drought-related expenses incurred between June 1, 2021 and May 23, 2022.
“Last year’s drought conditions were brutal for Minnesota’s farmers,” Nelson said. “I have received so many calls and emails about the stress, anxiety, and frustration it caused. I am glad the legislature was able to come together to provide this badly-needed assistance, but it won’t do any good unless farmers apply. I strongly, strongly encourage anyone who was affected by the horrible drought conditions to get your applications in as soon as possible before the window closes.”
