On Wednesday, the Senate Education Policy committee heard the Governor’s Education Policy Bill, which looks to make a number of changes to multiple education provisions. Included in the bill was controversial language that burdened homeschoolers and made teaching their kids more difficult. The language was debated in the House Education Policy Committee last week and remained in the bill until Wednesday, when it was removed in the Senate’s Education Policy Committee.
“This is how government is supposed to work—when Minnesotans are unhappy with proposals that will adversely affect them and their families, they step up to provide input and their representatives should listen,” said Senator Zach Duckworth (R-Lakeville), committee member. “Moms, dads, and kids spoke up, organized, contacted legislators and we took action to support them. Thank you to every family and advocate that came to the Capitol to discuss this important issue.”
