Friends and neighbors —
This Thursday, July 27th marks a special anniversary for our state Capitol – it has been exactly 125 years since the laying of the Cornerstone in the building’s foundation. In 1898 a time capsule was sealed inside the Cornerstone, with a Bible as the very first item placed inside.
To honor this piece of Minnesota history and the Capitol’s founders, the Capitol Prayer Network is hosting a prayer ceremony at 10:30 AM next to the Cornerstone on the east side of the Capitol’s southern entrance. The public is invited to attend this special 125th anniversary event and rededication of the Capitol, its grounds, and its original purpose as described in the preamble to the Minnesota Constitution – fostering religious freedom through good governance.
The short ceremony will take place outside rain or shine. Please consider forwarding this message to anyone who might be interested in joining us.
Let’s come together this Thursday in celebration of our state’s history and in hope for its future.
