I have heard many heartbreaking stories about the severe damage caused by last month’s floods in our communities. Homes have been damaged, possessions lost, and lives disrupted. I know how tough this time has been for everyone affected.
Federal flood assistance is now available for residents in 19 Minnesota counties, including several in our district. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is offering individual assistance to help with recovery efforts. This aid can help with home repairs, temporary housing, and even damage to appliances, furniture, or vehicles. I strongly encourage everyone affected by the floods to apply for this assistance before the September 27 deadline. You can apply online at https://www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
Even if you’re unsure about your eligibility, it is worth checking. Every bit of assistance can make a difference in these challenging times.
