Friends and neighbors,
The 2024 Minnesota State Fair, fittingly known as “The Great Minnesota Get-Together,” officially kicked off this week and will run until Labor Day! Starting in 1854 as a territorial fair, this event has grown into a beloved Minnesota tradition, now welcoming over a million visitors annually.
The fair showcases an exceptional mix of agriculture, art, business, entertainment, and a wide variety of food options, reflecting both the historical and modern aspects of our state. While agriculture remains a central focus, the Fair’s exhibitions now also highlight Minnesota’s advancements in technology and industry. Visitors can explore more than 25 buildings, barns, and areas, including the History & Heritage Center and the Fine Arts Center.
Cherished traditions such as the butter carving contest and impressive 4-H exhibits continue to delight attendees, bringing Minnesotans together to celebrate the state’s best. Each visitor leaves with their own unique stories and memories, and I encourage you and your family to experience a day of fun and create your own.
Also, don’t miss the chance to visit the Senate booth in the Education building to participate in our legislative survey!

City of Annandale secures key funding for water tower rehabilitation project
The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) has recently approved $647,864 for the City of Annandale’s water tower rehabilitation project. This funding, made available through the Drinking Water Revolving Fund, will help modernize the existing 300,000-gallon elevated storage tank.
Congratulations to the City of Annandale for securing a significant investment in their water infrastructure! It is important to dedicate our taxpayer dollars to core infrastructure to ensure our communities have what they need to thrive. This funding will be instrumental in maintaining a clean and reliable water supply for years to come.
Thank you to the dedicated community leaders who helped make this critical funding a reality!
