Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Alexandria campus starts serving the community

State Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) recently toured the newly constructed Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge (MnTC) facility in Alexandria, located on the shores of Lake Winona. This campus will provide vital residential treatment and recovery options for adult men, along with outpatient services for both men and women in Alexandria.

During the 2023 legislative session, Sen. Rasmusson secured supplemental funding for Adult and Teen Challenge facilities in Alexandria and Brainerd. “Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge has had remarkable success,” said Sen. Rasmusson. “I am grateful to see our community have expanded access to life-changing treatment closer to home. The new facility in Alexandria will provide crucial support for individuals struggling with addiction and bring hope to families in our area.”

The grand opening ceremony, which took place on Thursday, Nov. 7, featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony where community members, supporters, and local leaders celebrated this milestone. MnTC invited the community to join in the celebration, providing an opportunity to tour the new facility, meet staff and volunteers, and learn more about MnTC’s impactful programs and services.

“We are excited to open the doors to our new facility in Alexandria and to better serve West Central Minnesota,”said MnTC regional director, Sam Anderson. “This space will not only provide a place for recovery but also foster hope and connection for our residents and their families affected by addiction. Our wholistic approach of addressing the physical, emotional as well as the spiritual needs of our clients provides each person a unique opportunity to live in a loving and encouraging Christian environment where we believe true hope is found.”

According to MnTC Alexandria, the facility is dedicated to helping clients in central and western Minnesota heal from addiction. It offers a licensed 90-day treatment program and a faith-based recovery program with four levels specifically designed for men. Clients also have access to mental health services, and there is a community outpatient program available for both men and women, providing 10 hours of treatment each week for approximately 90 days.

The 50,000-square-foot building with a 74-bed capacity, enhances the addiction recovery landscape in the region. The property features stunning views of Lake Winona and provides those in treatment a peaceful retreat for healing. Additional features include bedroom suites and a new chapel with a custom-made backlit cross built into the windows.
