Minnesota Senate Republicans recently elected their leadership team to guide the caucus during the upcoming 2025 ‒ 2026 legislative session. State Senator Gary Dahms (R ‒ Redwood Falls) was chosen by his colleagues to serve as an assistant Senate minority leader, while Senator Mark Johnson (R ‒ East Grand Forks) will continue in his role as Senate minority leader.
As assistant Senate Republican leader, Senator Dahms will focus on guiding the caucus strategy and collaborating with members to advance key legislative goals. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to join the leadership team for the Senate Republican Caucus,” said Senator Dahms.
The rest of the Senate Republican leadership team will include Senators Julia Coleman (R ‒ Waconia), Karin Housley (R ‒ Stillwater), John Jasinski (R ‒ Faribault), Michael Kreun (R ‒ Blaine), and Jordan Rasmusson (R ‒ Fergus Falls).
The 2025-2026 legislative session will begin at noon on January 14, 2025.
Senator Dahms is in his fifth term representing Senate District 15 which includes communities in Blue Earth, Brown, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Lyon, Redwood, and Yellow Medicine counties. He also serves as the Republican Lead on the Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee and is
