Gruenhagen: Families scammed by fake tutors – another Walz admin scandal

Friends and neighbors,

Recently another troubling story of government program fraud and abuse came to light. Low-income families in Minnesota were taken advantage of by tutoring companies that promised help for their children but delivered almost nothing.

These companies targeted mothers at mosques, pressured them into signing up, and even sold faulty laptops. The tutoring was outsourced to unlicensed and unqualified instructors overseas. Children were unable to understand the lessons, and families found their tax refunds were taken without their authorization to pay for these worthless services.

I wish I could say this was surprising. Unfortunately, it’s just one more example of fraud, waste, and abuse being allowed to run unchecked in Minnesota under Gov. Tim Walz’s administration.

Once again we find ourselves responding to fraud after it happens instead of preventing it from happening in the first place. It is clear this is a systemic issue in this administration, and we need accountability for why it keeps happening.

If you have any questions, please reach out.

God Bless,

Glenn
