Minnesota Alliance of YMCAs honors Senator Jeremy Miller as Minnesota YMCA Champion

The Minnesota Alliance of YMCAs has named Senator Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) the recipient of its 2025 Minnesota YMCA Champion Award. The honor recognizes his long-standing support of YMCA programs, including youth water safety, early childcare initiatives, and his commitment to the Winona Family YMCA, where he previously served as a board member.

“My wife, Janel, and I are big fans of the Y and appreciate everything YMCAs do in communities across Minnesota and beyond,” Senator Miller said. “This is truly an honor.”

“The Y Alliance is so grateful to honor Senator Miller for his support of our YMCA community impact work where the Y is providing affordable quality early childcare access to Minnesota families and creating resources to help kids be safe around Minnesota pools, rivers and lakes,” said David Dominick, executive director of Y of the North and Public Policy Director of the Upper Midwest Alliance of YMCA.

The award was presented at the Minnesota State Capitol on February 4 by Upper Midwest YMCA President and CEO Jon Agnew and Public Policy Chair Amy Anderson. The event brought together YMCA staff, volunteers, and youth from 17 YMCAs across the state.

The YMCA Alliance recognizes elected officials each year for their leadership and support of policies that strengthen local YMCAs and the families they serve. Senator Miller’s dedication to these efforts made him a clear choice for this year’s award.
