State resources are available to assist with cleanup and response after flood disaster

(St. Paul, MN…) After recent severe storms and flooding across Minnesota, an Executive Order was issued by the Governor declaring a state of emergency in 35 Minnesota counties, including Scott County.

Financial assistance in the form of low-interest loans may be available to homeowners, renters, and small business owners whose property was damaged by the flood disaster in Scott and surrounding counties. The amount of financial assistance available to homeowners, renters, and businesses depends on the type of damage sustained:

Homeowners The SBA provides up to $200,000 in loans to repair or replace a primary residence to pre-disaster condition.

Homeowners and Renters The SBA provides low-interest, long-term loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, including appliances, cars, clothing and furniture.

Businesses Physical Disaster Loan — The SBA provides loans up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged real estate, equipment, inventory and fixtures.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan — The SBA provides loans up to $2 million to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, nonprofit organizations of all sizes to pay business expenses that would have been paid had the disaster not occurred.
