Democrat Budget Targets fail to provide tax relief, instead spend entire surplus

Democrat Budget Targets were released this week, and amount to $17.9 billion in additional spending. This equates to a record 30% increase to the state’s current budget.

Senator Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake) released the following statement in response:

“Families across the state have been struggling to pay bills and afford basic necessities—they have been repeatedly asking for tax relief to help offset the effects of inflation. In response, Democrats have released budget targets that use the entirety of the surplus and increase the size and scope of government without offering any tax relief. This 30% budget increase is irresponsible and unsustainable. These targets reflect just how out of touch Democrats are with needs of Minnesotans.”
