Senator Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) is celebrating the announcement that the federal government will follow through on its commitment to fund the completion of the Bemidji Veterans Home Project. Senator Eichorn played a key role in securing the necessary state funding in 2018 and released the following statement.
“This is fantastic news for our veterans and our entire region,” said Sen. Eichorn. “Getting this project built has been one of my top priorities since joining the legislature. A lot of great work has been done to get this project funded and I am beyond delighted to play a part in helping support our veterans. Our veterans deserve to be honored for the tremendous sacrifices they have made for our country.”
Senator Eichorn played a key role in securing the $12.4 million in state funding for the project in the 2018 Bonding bill and has introduced a resolution calling on the federal government to fund their share of the project. Currently, veterans need to drive 128-miles from Bemidji to Fergus Falls for the nearest Veterans Home. Today’s announcement also includes needed federal funding for the Montevideo and Preston Veterans Home projects.
