Friends and neighbors –
If you get a letter from an address in Montana, do not throw it out. That’s your $260 rebate check.
Why is it coming from Montana? Because rather than use the resources at our own Department of Revenue, Gov. Walz farmed out the job to a company in Montana – at a cost of $21 million to Minnesota taxpayers.
So, to recap:
- Minnesota over-collected $19 billion from Minnesota taxpayers
- Gov. Walz and Democrats in the Legislature spent all of it, increasing government spending by nearly 40% in one year
- Then they raised taxes another $9 billion.
- Despite promising checks of $2,000, they ended up authorizing rebate checks of $260 per person for some Minnesotans.
- And then they sent $21 million of your money to a company in Montana to send out the checks.
It’s out of touch with what people are dealing with right now. With a record surplus, high inflation, and personal debt rising, you should have been given much, much more relief. Unfortunately, Democrats care more about special interests than helping the common man.
Help shape the mission of the DNR!
Most of us who live in northern Minnesota do so because we love Minnesota’s outdoors. We enjoy having convenient access to waterways, forests, and so much more. Regardless of which side of the aisle you fall on, we all want to be good stewards of our environment.
We all have our criticisms of the DNR, but that makes it even more important that folks up here get involved in shaping the mission of the DNR in a way that aligns with northern Minnesota values.
One easy way to get involved is to apply for one of the DNR’s advisory groups or task forces. Right now there are openings on the task forces that adress Aquatic Invasive Species, Minnesota’s coasts, National Heritage, and Parks and Trails. You can also sign up to be alerted when new openings are posted.
For more information, visit the DNR’s website or send me an email and I would be happy to connect you.
