St. Paul, MN – January 23, 2019 – The Minnesota Grocers Association announced Senator Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) as a Hero of the Food Industry. Eichorn received the honor for his leadership in advancing the food industry’s priorities at the Minnesota Legislature.
“Senator Eichorn is a champion of a free marketplace, not placing undue burdens on local business, and helping our neighbors keep their shopping baskets full. He has displayed outstanding leadership in advocating for common sense policies that create job growth and spur economic activity,” said Jamie Pfuhl, President of the Minnesota Grocers Association. “This award is a testament to his vision, strong leadership, and support of the industry from farm to fork.”
Eichorn was presented the award at the Capitol from grocers from all over the state including from his district. After the presentation, grocery store owners discussed complex nature of the industry and the many challenges faced to remain viable in today’s competitive marketplace.
“Our community is fortunate to have an abundant network of job creators in the industry, which provides one out of every twenty jobs in the state. Minnesota has a diverse economy and the food industry is an important part in creating a vibrant economy,” said Senator Justin Eichorn. “I am honored to receive this award from the Minnesota Grocers Association and I will continue to advocate for main street Minnesota businesses and all Minnesotans.”
