The Minnesota Senate Majority recently announced that Senator Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) will become a member of the Senate Commerce Committee during the 2022 legislative session. The committee held its first hearing of the year on Monday. The Committee on Commerce has jurisdiction over all bills relating to banking, insurance, securities, consumer financial services, and liquor.
“This committee placement will give me the opportunity to better serve Northern Minnesotans,” Eichorn said. “The committee is crucial in our efforts to lower insurance costs for families and help create better conditions for our small businesses. I look forward to working with my Republican and Democrat colleagues on the committee to create policies that address the needs of Minnesotans.”
Senator Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) is the Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. Senator Eichorn replaces Senator Paul Utke (R-Park Rapids), who was recently selected as Chair of the Senate Health & Human Services Committee.
