Eichorn Statement on Lawsuit Challenging End of Session Omnibus Bill

State Senator Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) released the following statement following the news that a lawsuit has been filed challenging the 1400-page mega omnibus bill passed on the final night of session, arguing the bill violated the Minnesota Constitution’s single-subject rule pertaining to omnibus bills.

“This lawsuit is not surprising to anyone who witnessed the disastrous end to the 2024 Legislative Session. Under Governor Walz’s leadership, we witnessed chaos, confusion, and the potentially unconstitutional passage of a 1400-page omnibus bill housing all of the bills the DFL couldn’t pass properly because of their inability to manage their own session timeline.

The news is a sore reminder of how the Democrats catered to the far-left demands in their party all session long and failed to properly legislate under Walz’s leadership. Minnesotans deserve better.”
