Friends and neighbors,
Minnesota’s latest budget forecast confirms what we already knew: the reckless spending spree and terrible management by Democrats over the last two years has left Minnesota in a financial disaster.
The numbers show we are spending $2.1 billion more than we are taking in, and the long-term outlook is even worse. By the 2028-2029 budget cycle, Minnesota is projected to have an enormous $6 billion deficit.
This is a direct result of the Democrats extreme agenda of the last two years. They grew government spending by an unsustainable 40%, spent every cent of the state’s record $18 billion surplus, and raised taxes by $10 billion.
And now the state budget is spiraling out of control.

Democrats will try to blame Washington, but this Democrat Deficit is entirely their doing. They ignored reality and common sense. They ignored the words of caution from my Republican colleagues and I. They ignored what the people of Minnesota were asking for. They spent far, far beyond our means. And they let fraudsters walk away with more than $500 million of your tax dollars.
Now, Minnesotans are left to deal with the consequences. Our state already has some of the highest taxes in the country, yet spending continues to grow faster than revenue. If nothing changes, hardworking families will be stuck paying the price — either through even higher taxes or painful cuts to essential services.
I will continue fighting for a responsible, sustainable budget. Instead of growing government at completely unsustainable rates, we need a budget that puts taxpayers first.
As always, I appreciate hearing your feedback. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
God Bless,
