Late Tuesday night, we received outstanding news from President Trump: He issued an executive order declaring that federal funds will no longer be used to promote or support transgender surgeries and hormone treatments for children.
This is a major step forward in protecting children from life-altering procedures – procedures that many of them come to regret. The order directs federal agencies to end funding for these practices and prioritize enforcement against those misleading the public about their long-term effects.
As you know, I have been outspoken about the dangers of these interventions for years, so I am grateful that President Trump made it such an urgent priority.
Children struggling with their identity need support. Our duty as adults is to help them get that support and guide them with wisdom and leadership. Our role is not to subject them to irreversible procedures pushed by political activists.
President Trump’s executive order is an important step to protect kids across the country. Now we have to keep working to do the same in Minnesota.
