Minnesota Senate Democrats today rejected a Republican motion to expel Senator Nicole Mitchell, the Democrat who is currently on trial for felony first-degree burglary. Senate Republicans also offered the motion to expel Sen. Mitchell during the 2024 legislative session, but it failed when every Democrat voted to rule it out of order.
Senator Glenn Gruenhagen (R-Glencoe) issued the following statement.
“Once again, Senate Democrats protected Sen. Mitchell instead of protecting the Senate’s reputation. Her behavior makes her unfit to serve, and her continued presence undermines public trust in the legislature. Minnesotans expect their leaders to hold themselves to the highest standards, but Democrats prioritized their agenda and their power over integrity. Our constituents deserve far better leadership than this.”
