Housley supports Corrections Officers in wake of Stillwater prison lockdown regarding illicit drugs

The Stillwater Prison went into lockdown on Thursday morning after several staff members were hospitalized due to potential exposure to drugs in the prison. In total, nine staff members were exposed to the unknown substance, seven of which were hospitalized.

Senator Karin Housley (R-Stillwater) released the following statement in response:

“We should absolutely prioritize the safety of staff and inmates – unknown substances are a risk to everyone,” said Housley. “Safety starts with a secure building and thorough screening for every package and letter. It’s incredibly important that we prioritize the safety of those tasked with keeping others safe. Our corrections officers deserve to know we will work diligently to address their concerns and ensure their safety.”
