This week in the Transportation committee Senator Jeff Howe (R-Rockville) presented two bills that fund improvements to two local roads. SF-189 funds improvement to Town Line Road in Stearns County, and SF-2884 funds the reconstruction of Highway 94 between the cities of St. Joseph and Sauk Center.
“These two bills are critical towards ensuring safe travel and commerce throughout our communities in central Minnesota,” said Howe. “Town Line Road borders five separate jurisdictions, which has presented a challenge when trying to coordinate funding. We want to solidify funding for this project so we can ensure this road is safe and secure for all. I-94 is in horrendous condition and was left even worse for wear after this past winter. This road brings commerce and travelers from western to central Minnesota, and it’s important that we address that road’s safety concerns.”
SF-189 would fund a grant to Stearns County for engineering and construction improvements to Town Line Road from Stearns County Road 5 to Stearns County Road 4. SF-2884 would appropriate funding for the predesign, design, engineering, and reconstruction of I-94 between St. Joseph and Sauk Center.
Both bills were laid over for possible inclusion in a future Transportation bill.
