Howe calls out Governor for insensitive and incendiary comment, calling Republicans “fascists and nazis”

Earlier this week audio came out of Governor Walz making an incendiary speech at the Capitol in which he claimed, “Our country has been stolen by fascists and Nazis,” implying that Republicans winning elective offices is the equivalent of one of the darkest periods in world history.

“The language that Governor Walz used is wrong and out of line – he is impugning the motives of every single American voter who disagrees with him, and he’s equating it to one of the most horrifying periods of history! It’s behavior that he should immediately apologize for,” said Senator Jeff Howe (R-Rockville).

This also comes just days after it was uncovered that the Department of Management and Budget has been using training programs for state employees that staff referred to Republicans as “white supremacist” and holding an “autocratic agenda.”

“This pattern from state leadership is appalling. As the legislature is working to find middle ground and get a budget put together, the Minnesota Management and Budget office is training employees that Republicans are white supremacists, and Governor Walz is throwing out divisive comments. This hateful rhetoric that everyone claims to be against is exactly what the Walz Administration is pushing out into state agencies. This situation is destructive, distasteful and the hateful rhetoric needs to end,” finished Howe.
