Friends and neighbors,
I’m excited to congratulate the Wanamingo Fire Department on receiving a $10,000 grant from State Farm’s Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. This grant, awarded in partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council, is designed to help small and volunteer fire departments like Wanamingo’s with funding for essential equipment so they can improve safety and response capabilities. For departments with tight budgets and small teams, grants like these make a huge difference. They’re not just a boost in resources; they’re a boost in safety and preparedness.
As you know, I am a strong supporter of first responders – they are the lifeline of our communities. They’re neighbors, friends, and family members who answer the call when we need them most, often with limited resources. This grant means the Wanamingo Fire Department will have an easier time getting the tools and equipment they need to respond more effectively – and stay safer while doing it. The commitment they show every day – putting themselves at risk to protect others – deserves our full support.
I also want to thank State Farm and the NVFC for creating this grant program. By stepping up to support small, local departments, they are reinforcing the safety net that volunteer firefighters provide every day.
To the Wanamingo Fire Department: congratulations, and thank you for all you do. Your dedication to our safety doesn’t go unnoticed, and this grant is well-deserved recognition of that service.
