Senator John Jasinski (R-Faribault) issued the following statement on the passage of House File 3, the REAL ID compliance bill, by the Senate.
“When I came to the legislature, I started making a list of ‘unfinished business’ that the previous Senate didn’t get done – things like transportation and tax relief. REAL ID was on that list. I spoke to a lot of people who were worried about being able to get on airplanes or enter federal buildings next year, but the passage of our REAL ID compliance bill eliminates that uncertainty. It’s a great day for Minnesotans.
“Our bill also offers two ID options, because there are also plenty of people who have concerns about the REAL ID system. Anyone who wants to continue using their standard ID will be able to do so, they’ll just need other documents to fly. It really is the best compromise for all involved, and I’m glad we got it done.“
