Kreun celebrates critical funding for local nursing homes

Nursing homes across the state are seeing the result of the legislative session as funding fought for by Senate Republicans is finally reaching facilities.

Last Session, Senate Republicans fought for a $300 million deal to help nursing homes amidst a historic staffing crisis. The bipartisan agreement included direct grants, facility rate increases, and a workforce incentive fund that adds up to about $1.1 million for every nursing home in the state.

“Senate Republicans saw the crisis that nursing homes were facing—we heard their concerns, made the issue a top priority, and secured funding that will help homes across the state keep their doors open,” said Senator Michael Kreun (R-Blaine). “Though I am happy with the results, we started the year with a historic surplus, and this crisis should have been one of the first issues addressed. These are the homes that take care of our loved ones, and they deserve our support to live near their families with dignity and quality care.”

Local business Crest View Senior Communities, which has campuses in Columbia Heights and Blaine, received a total $325,375 on August 1, with a second payment for the same amount planned for August 1, 2024.
