The Minnesota Senate today passed a transportation budget bill that included a critical amendment authored by Senator Michael Kreun (R-Blaine) that funds the construction of Highway 65 in Blaine.
“Highway 65 has consistently been a congestion and safety hazard for far too long, and I’m happy that my amendment was accepted, because it will provide the funding needed to begin this critical project,” said Kreun. “Securing this funding has been my number one priority for this session and I’m happy to see the Senate supporting it. I will keep advocating for Highway 65 in a bipartisan manner as bills work their way through the Legislature.”
The amendment provides $56 million for improvements needed to complete Highway 65, and an additional $30 million to add a third lane on Highway 10 from Hanson Blvd. to Round Lake Blvd. in Coon Rapids. The Kreun amendment funding Highway 65 and Highway 10 received bipartisan support and the amendment was adopted on a voice vote.
