Senator Michael Kreun (R-Blaine) has secured historic funding for Highway 65 in multiple end-of-session bills. The total funding equates to $102.75 million, which will fund the reconstruction of the 99th, 105th, and 109th Avenue intersections along the Highway 65 corridor.
“Highway 65 has been a congestion and safety hazard for far too long—it has affected residents, businesses, and the 7.5 million visitors to Blaine every year. This project has been a critical need for years, and I was happy to finally get this to the finish line,” said Kreun. “Securing this funding was my number one priority, and I am thankful for all the local elected officials who worked tirelessly for many years to make this possible. This was a team effort that I was honored to take the lead on in the Senate, and I look forward to celebrating the groundbreaking and eventual completion of these projects. Though this funding will complete the majority of needed construction, I look forward to continuing the work to secure funding for the reconstruction of the 117th Avenue intersection as well as future phases of this important project.”
Funding was secured through multiple avenues. $68.75 million was included in the Transportation budget, and an additional $34 million came from bonding bills.
