Lieske: Condemn Democrats’ cynical power politics

Friends and neighbors,

On Thursday, Minnesota DFL Party Chair Ken Martin called for Democrat Senator Nicole Mitchell to resign.

The timing comes as no surprise. This is exactly what we expected from the Democrats – keeping her around to pass their extreme agenda until it was no longer politically convenient.

Over and over, Democrats have demonstrated they care more about protecting their power and passing their agenda than upholding integrity. Senator Mitchell was embraced despite the serious allegations against her because her vote was needed to ram through their hyper-partisan wish list. Now that they’ve gotten what they wanted, they’re ready to discard her. It is a particularly sad display of power politics.

This entire affair reeks of the worst kind of corruption — using any means necessary, no matter how unethical, to hold on to power. The people of Minnesota deserve better than these shameless power games from their elected leaders.

Democrats have proven once again that acquiring and maintaining a death grip on political control is their only objective, regardless of what moral lines must be crossed.

Minnesotans should condemn this utter lack of principles.

Sincerely,

Bill Lieske
